Big news, tech fans: startup Nothing is taking its next flagship, the Phone (3), mainstream in the U.S.—no invite, no waitlist. Pre-orders will go live through its website and Amazon, as TechCrunch first reported.
A Step Up in the U.S. Game
Since launching in 2020, Nothing’s released eight phones, but only one—the Phone (2)—has been available for general sale in America. Before then, you’d need to join a beta program to score one, and customer support? Limited at best—though returns were allowed within 14 days.
Now, Carl Pei—the co-founder of OnePlus and current CEO of Nothing—is saying this is a turning point:
“We have always said we are building for the long term, and now we’re ready to take that next step in the U.S. Phone (3) is not just another launch. It is a signal of where we are as a company,” Pei told TechCrunch. “The smartphone market in the U.S. is dominated by two players, but a lot of people are hungry for something different.”
The Design Vibe & Carrier Support
Pei believes Nothing’s unique design DNA—think transparent chassis and glow elements—will rope in buyers who are over the same old Apple, Samsung, and Google look.
And here’s the practical upgrade: the Phone (3) will come unlocked and ready for AT&T and T-Mobile, with full 4G/5G band support—a major leap from its predecessors like the Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, and CMF Phone 1.
Canada’s Getting In on It, Too
Across the border, Nothing’s teaming up with Best Buy for its Canadian launch. They’ll stock the Phone (3) and the new over-ear Headphone (1) in physical stores—hello, retail aisles!
Tech Specs & U.S. Pricing — What We Know
In a recent promo video, Pei teased that the Phone (3) will feature:
- Premium build and materials
- A serious performance bump
- Cleaner and more powerful software
He mentioned a price around £800, which translates to roughly $1,000 in the U.S., putting it squarely against the iPhone 16 Pro and Galaxy S25+.
The Big Picture: Is Nothing Ready for Prime Time?
Last year, Counterpoint Research pegged Nothing’s global shipments in the low single-digit millions, with India leading the charge.
Maurice Klaehne of Counterpoint told TechCrunch that brands like Google and Motorola are slowly carving out space in the U.S. premium market—dominated by Apple and Samsung—with OnePlus also playing match with unlocked devices, though with modest numbers.
So, yes—the landscape is crowded. But with bold design, improved support, and mainstream availability, Nothing’s betting Phone (3) will finally be its breakout moment in North America.
